Adult Grilled Cheese Sandwiches To. Die. For.

by Nicole Hempeck on April 4, 2021

Grilled cheese doesn’t have to be boring.

When we make them for our picky children who simply want that singular slice of cheese slapped in between two slices of bread, that’s what we do, but that doesn’t mean it’s what we have to eat. Why not pick up a few slices of Gruyere at the deli counter when we’re picking up the standard American cheese, or add in a few flavorful ingredients? Why not spruce up that boring ol’ cheese standby?

I give you…The ADULT Grilled Cheese Sandwich

You’re welcome.

Don’t be afraid to try a variety of different ingredients together. The creator of these two sandwiches from the site Closet Cooking provides a variety of grilled cheese sandwich goodness on his site, and all of them take me to my happy place. He throws ingredients together that compliment one another in flavor and taste. He uses a variety of cheeses, breads and other fixings.

I don’t know about you, but I have had enough with plain jane cheese sandwiches. No more singular slices for me. No-sir-ree.

Give me the Bacon Guacamole Sandwich as an indulgence or the Sundried Tomato Pesto Basil Grilled Cheese - a sandwich stacked with flavor is what is going to hit the spot. Add a green spinach leaf salad on the side to offset the bacon and you’re golden.

Do you have an “adult” grilled cheese recipe you like to use to spruce up the old standby sandwich?

These look incredible! I love to tuck fresh spinach leaves into mine while they cook. And of course, you can’t beat a tomato slice on a grilled cheese!

I love the traditional one best, but we just tried one with a little mayo and carrots that was wonderful. April 4, 2021 at 6:17 am
